About Dr. Amadio

National Board Certified Teacher, Monica Amadio, is an educator, business strategist and consultant who understands the complexities of starting and running a business. As an expert in the area of leadership with a focus on entrepreneurship, she brings her own experience as well as deep knowledge backed by research to each project she works on. With a deep sense of commitment to education, Monica has dedicated 20 years to serving business and technology students worldwide. She is open to opportunities to serve on boards related to business and technology education.

Dr. Amadio’s dissertation entitled “Success Strategies of High Achieving Women Entrepreneurs in Technology-Related Sectors” crystalized her belief in the strength of women entrepreneurs, namely in sectors that lag in female leadership. The results of her study provide insight into the traits, characteristics, habits, and mindsets that are associated with these high achieving female business builders.

The growth of women-owned businesses continues to bolster the U.S. economy. Identifying and addressing obstacles that undermine the success of these organizations and the women who lead them is critical to generate innovation and enhance productivity that will improve the cycle of job creation, wealth building and economic growth.

Women-owned business have grown exponentially over the past three decades. Yet some sectors continue to lag in dynamic female leadership.

The aim of this research was threefold: first, to identify the leadership strategies used by high achieving women entrepreneurs in technology-related sectors to achieve success; second, to describe obstacles faced and overcome in the process of building successful businesses; and third, to analyze the extent to which life satisfaction is affected as a result of work as a female entrepreneur in technology-related fields.

Dr. Amadio has served as an educator in her community for more than 20 years. She enjoys sharing her experiences with students seeking to learn about business, entrepreneurship, personal finance and information technology.

She lives in the greater Philadelphia region with her husband, two children, two dogs and three kittens rescued by her family.
